The GrowoniX KDF85 catalytic carbon filter is a 2.5 x 9.75 in replacement cartridge that packs two media into one housing. KDF85 uses high-purity copper-zinc granules and a redox reaction to strip chlorine, dissolved metals, scale, and hydrogen sulfide, the source of rotten-egg odor. Its bacteriostatic action holds back microorganism growth inside the cartridge. The highly reactive catalytic carbon is extremely porous and long lasting. It tackles the chloramine that ordinary carbon leaves behind. The cartridge is rated for roughly 8,000 gallons of chlorine or chloramine removal, or about 2,500 gallons of RO water at a 2:1 ratio.
