What the Hanna DiST 5 Measures, and to What Resolution
Conductivity reads 0 to 3999 µS/cm in single-microsiemen steps at ±2% of full scale. TDS covers 0 to 2000 ppm and temperature 0.0 to 60.0 °C. The probe is a HI73311 graphite electrode. Graphite is what keeps salts from building into the sensor the way they do on a plated tip. It unscrews when it wears out. The casing is sealed and it floats.
Living With a Waterproof Tester in a Wet Room
Calibration is one point, automatic, and the meter expects the standard at 1413 µS/cm or 1382 mg/L. Set the conversion factor anywhere from 0.45 to 1.00 so the ppm figure matches the scale your feed chart is written on. The beta coefficient is adjustable too, up to 2.4% per °C, and compensation runs automatically once it is set. Four cells last around 100 hours, with shutdown after eight idle minutes. One thing it does not do. There is no pH on this pen, so a room running both needs a second instrument or a combo meter instead.
