The replacement Hanna multiparameter probe for the HI9814 GroLine meter. One polypropylene body reads pH, EC, TDS and temperature, on a 1 m cable ending in the quick-connect DIN fitting the HI9814 expects.

What the Hanna Multiparameter Probe Puts in One Body

Four measurements, one thing to dip. The pH side uses a low-temperature glass sensing bulb with a cloth junction and a maintenance-free polymer gel electrolyte. There is no fill solution to top up. The EC and TDS side reads amperometrically across two stainless steel pins set into the same body. A temperature sensor sits inside as well, compensating both the pH and the conductivity readings.

Fitting the HI1285-7 and Knowing When to Replace It

One compatibility point matters above the rest. The HI1285-7 terminates in a quick-connect DIN fitting and pairs with the HI9814 GroLine meter, not with other Hanna meters. Cable length is 1 m, the reference is a single Ag/AgCl, and the tip is spheric at 8.0 mm. pH range runs 0 to 13, temperature 0 to 50C, with a maximum pressure of 0.1 bar. Every pH probe is a consumable, and this is the part of an HI9814 that wears out first. Readings that drift, take longer to settle, or refuse calibration point here rather than at the meter. Swapping it costs a fraction of a new instrument. Store it wet in KCl storage solution between uses. A dry junction shortens the life of a probe faster than anything else you can do to it.

Key Features

  • pH, EC, TDS and temperature in one body: A single polypropylene probe instead of three separate instruments and three dips.
  • Maintenance-free gel electrolyte: A cloth junction and polymer gel, so there is no fill solution to check or top up.
  • Two stainless pins for EC and TDS: Amperometric conductivity measured in the same body as the pH bulb.
  • Built-in temperature sensor: Compensates both pH and conductivity readings against standards and samples.
  • Quick-connect DIN, 1 m cable: Pairs with the HI9814 GroLine meter. It does not fit other Hanna meters.
  • The part that wears out first: Drifting, slow or uncalibratable readings usually mean the probe rather than the meter.
