Taking Cuttings in Clone Cubes

Clone cubes work best at room temperature, so let a cold bag sit out before use. If cubes have dried, soak them briefly in lukewarm water until they are spongy again. They should feel moist but not dripping. Take softwood tips and cut each one at an angle just below a node. Strip all but a couple of leaves so the cutting is not losing more water than it can take up. Dip the cut end in rooting gel, then set it gently into the hole without forcing it. Mist the cuttings and cover the tray with a clear dome or bag to hold humidity. For seeds, drop one into the hole and keep the tray somewhere warm until it sprouts. Squeeze a cube now and then; moisture should just reach the surface. If it does not, water gently and let the cubes drain. Seal unused cubes back in the bag so they don't dry out.
