What a 15 ft Trellis Netting Roll Actually Covers

One bed, or one layer in a tent. Fifteen feet is the short roll in the 5 ft wide woven range. It suits a grower netting one run rather than a whole room. The 5 ft width is the useful part. A standard bench or raised bed is 4 ft. That leaves about 6 in of overhang each side, so you tie off outside the growing area rather than at the plants.

Why a 3.5 in Mesh Holds a Canopy Differently

Roughly three times the contact points per square foot, against a 6 in grid. Stems get caught closer to where they bend, which is what you want on a dense planting or a heavy fruit load. The strings are soft and non-burning, so tender vines are not scored where they cross. There is a real cost though. A 3.5 in square is too small to get a hand and a tomato back out through. Picking happens from below, or the net gets cut. Hydrofarm publishes no rated load for any of these, so tie point spacing is what controls sag. Put one every 12 to 18 in. Hang the net 8 to 16 in above the medium in late veg, before the plants reach it.
