What the iGS-25 Does in the System

Worth being clear on the division of labour. The controller decides, and this box switches. An iGS-25 carries two 120V outlets that the controller opens and closes. The current a fan or a heater draws never passes through the controller itself. It is sold here as a replacement. That is usually why one is needed, because the part doing the switching is the part that wears.

Wiring a Plug N Grow Controller Across a Room

Distance is the useful part. The box connects back over Ethernet or RJ45 cable. It can sit as far as 50 ft from a plug n grow controller or its connection module. That means the controller mounts where you read it and the outlets mount where the equipment is, rather than forcing both to the same wall. The two ends can also sit on different circuits, which matters once the load in a room outgrows one breaker. Each box has to be fed from its own 15A circuit. That is the sizing basis for the whole box rather than a suggestion. Doubling two onto one breaker is how a room trips at the worst moment. A 6 ft cable comes with the unit. Adding another box gives two more controlled outputs and needs a second 15A supply to match.
