80 Micron Filter Kit: A Stainless Screen Ahead of Your Injector

The screen is permanent stainless steel rated at 200 mesh, which works out to about 80 microns. That is fine enough to catch sand, scale and pipe debris before it reaches an injector or drip emitters. Both ends are 3/4-inch FPT, and the kit includes unions on each side. Those unions let you pull the housing out of the line without cutting pipe. The screen lifts out for cleaning and goes straight back in. There are no replacement cartridges to stock or throw away. Where a Dosatron Filter Belongs in the Line

A dosatron filter goes upstream of the injector, on the supply side, so only clean water drives the motor. Put it after the main shutoff and before any flow restrictor or pressure regulator. That way, debris never lodges in the smaller parts downstream. Install a pressure gauge on each side of the housing if you can. A growing gap between the two readings tells you the screen needs cleaning before flow drops noticeably. Close the shutoff, open the unions, and rinse the screen under a hose. Use a soft brush for scale, never a wire brush, which can open the mesh. Well water and older municipal lines load screens fastest, so check those systems weekly at first. Once you know how fast your water dirties the screen, set a cleaning schedule around it.
