AC Infinity IONBOARD S44: 430W for a Full 4x4 Canopy
A 4x4 tent is where a lot of growers outgrow their first light, and the IONBOARD S44 was built for that step. It is one flat aluminum board, 23.62 x 23.62 in and 0.43 in thick, carrying 1,024 Samsung LM301H diodes. AC Infinity rates it at 430W from 100–277V, with 3.60A at 120V, 1.80A at 240V and 1.56A at 277V. At 120V that is a real share of a 15A circuit, so keep the fans and a dehumidifier on a second one if you can. Efficacy is 2.75 µmol/J, and the manufacturer lists 2,034 PPFD for the fixture. The spectrum pairs 3000K and 6500K white with 660 nm red and 730 nm far red. That mix carries plants from seedling to harvest without a bloom-only add-on. There is no fan on the board, and the housing is IP65 sealed against tent humidity. The IB-400 driver mounts away from the panel, so its heat stays out of the light path. Diodes are rated for 50,000 hours, which works out to many years of eighteen-hour veg runs.
Hanging and Dimming This 4x4 Grow Light by Stage
A 4x4 grow light this size is easier to manage by dimming than by constantly moving the ratchets. AC Infinity's manual gives two methods. You can hang it high over seedlings, around two feet in veg and eighteen inches in flower. Or you can park it at eighteen inches for the whole run and use forty, eighty and full power on the knob. The fixed-height method is kinder to tall strains, because the light never has to chase the canopy. The dimmer port also accepts a UIS controller, so a Controller 69 Pro can add sunrise ramps and humidity-based shutoffs. Several boards can share one controller through dongles if you later light a bigger room. Expect the edges of the tent to run cooler than the middle, which is normal for a single square panel. Training plants wide with a low-stress tie-down evens that out better than cranking the dimmer. If your tent is a 3x3, the smaller S33 board is the better match and costs less to run.
Key Features
- 1,024 Samsung LM301H diodes: A dense spread across a single board limits hot spots over a square canopy.
- Built-in 660 nm and 730 nm reds: Red and far red channels support flowering without a separate bloom bar.
- Fanless IP65 construction: No fan to fail or collect dust, and a sealed board for humid tents.
- Remote IB-400 driver: Keeps driver heat away from the canopy and simplifies hanging.
- Knob dimming and UIS port: Dial each stage by hand or hand control to an AC Infinity controller.
- Wide 100–277V input: Runs on standard household 120V or on 240V and 277V commercial circuits.
