The Evolution Sun Polarized Lens, and What It Is Tuned For
Method Seven built this lens around one idea: a sunglass should not lie about what you are looking at. A conventional tint either washes colour out or pushes saturation, and both make a plant hard to read. The SUN spectrum lens attenuates light moderately, darkening enough to be comfortable while respecting the balance between colours. Polarization does the other half of the work by cutting glare reflected off leaf surfaces. That reflected light is what hides early pigment change, so removing it is the reason these are useful outdoors rather than just dark. Method Seven credit the polarizing technology to Carl Zeiss and fit an anti reflective coating on the inner face. Ultraviolet protection is full, and the lens is a lightweight polymer rather than glass. The lens is a shatterproof polycarbonate.
Color Accuracy on the Crop Walk
Color accuracy is the claim the whole lens rests on. It is also the reason a grower pays for these over a petrol station pair. Walk a row with polarized lenses on and interveinal yellowing shows earlier, because the shine is gone and only pigment is left. The same lens then behaves normally in a car or on a screen, which is the argument for the Evolution frame over a wraparound. TR90 is the frame material, and it bends and returns instead of snapping at the hinge. Concealed flex hinges are the reason it sits comfortably on a wider face without being loosened out. As with any sun lens, this is the wrong filter for working under lamps indoors. Method Seven make separate lenses for sodium and full spectrum rooms.
