Mosquito Bits for Mosquito & Fungus Gnat Control

Powered by Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis), this biological insecticide kills mosquito larvae within 24 hours and breaks the fungus gnat life cycle in soil. Ideal for residential mosquito control, hydroponics, indoor gardening, and greenhouse use.

How to Use Mosquito Bits 30 oz

Apply to standing water—birdbaths, rain barrels, ponds—or mix into potting soil; the granules float and keep working on the water’s surface for up to 14 days. Targets larvae only, so it’s safe for fish, wildlife, pets, and beneficial insects when used as directed.

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Determine how much Summit Mosquito Bits to use by calculating the square footage of the water surface or soil to be treated. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet and multiply (length X width = square footage). For small areas of standing water, apply 1 teaspoon of Summit Mosquito Bits per 25 sq. ft. of water or 1 tablespoon of product per 75 sq. ft. of water. For larger areas of standing water, use 4 oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. of clean water and for polluted or greater organic content in water apply at 8 oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. of water surface. Mix 4 tablespoons of product per 1 gallon of water for fungus gnat larvae control in soil or growing media surface.
  • Step 2: Open the Summit Mosquito Bits container with a gloved hand and load the appropriate amount of product into your hand spreader, tablespoon, or teaspoon. Stand directly above the area to be treated or near the water edge to let the water push the product further into the center of large water sites.
  • Step 3: For soil applications, you will need to load the appropriate amount of Summit Mosquito Bits into a nylon stocking and let it soak for 30 minutes. Skim off the floating granules once this time has passed. Stir or shake the water then apply treated water directly to soil or growing media surface.
  • Step 4: Repeat weekly for three weeks for fungus gnats. Apply every 7 days at the highest concentration for abundant mosquito larvae's and when the water has settled. Reapply every 14 days at the lowest concentration when there is low mosquito larvae's and little organic content in the water.
