Netafim Pressure Reducing Globe Valve for Straight 2 in Mains

Not every header has room for a riser, and on a straight run the globe shape keeps inlet and outlet in line. This Series 80 valve, model 61PRTH2GH3, regulates downstream pressure on a 2 in line without any wiring. Its pilot sits on the bonnet, reads outlet pressure, and adjusts the main diaphragm to hold the set point. If the outlet falls, the valve opens further; if it rises, the valve throttles back. Because it is hydraulic, it regulates any time the line holds water. The body is rated for 0.25 to 176 GPM with 7 to 150 psi at the inlet and water up to 140°F. Fully open it adds only about 0.2 psi at 20 GPM and 6.5 psi at 130 GPM. Body, bonnet and seat are glass-reinforced polyamide, with 304 stainless fasteners and a 302 stainless spring. The valve measures about 6-9/16 x 6-1/2 x 6-5/8 in and weighs 2 lb. Three colour-coded pilot springs set the range: yellow 7-30 psi, green 14-65 psi and red 30-90 psi.

Commissioning a 2 Inch Pressure Regulating Valve

Use it where a high-pressure main feeds blocks of drip or micro emitters that need a lower, steadier pressure. Typical spots include the head of a greenhouse range on a booster pump or a nursery manifold on a municipal supply. Plumb it inline with the flow arrow pointing downstream, and fit a pressure gauge just after the outlet. With every control on the bonnet and no tubing on the body, the header stays clean and easy to service. Fill the line slowly the first time to avoid a spike against the diaphragm. Then turn the pilot adjustment in small steps until the downstream gauge reads the target for the emitters. Give the reading a moment to settle between adjustments. This 2 inch pressure regulating valve can mount vertically or horizontally, which helps in a crowded manifold. It does not switch the zone itself, so pair it with an electric zone valve or master valve for scheduling. Recheck the set point each season and after any change to pumps, filters or zone size.
