Netafim Brown Rod Mount Spray Stake, Double Pattern

Shrubs and young trees in 5 to 15 gallon pots of chunky bark are hard to keep a spray head upright in. This Netafim head, item 22500-005730, answers with a rod mount and a double spray pattern. It belongs to the brown 7.9 GPH flow, which Netafim matches to pots in that size range. The rod mount clips onto a 12 gauge metal rod instead of a short plastic stake. Netafim sells the rods separately, in 8 in and 12 in lengths. Sinking the rod deeper anchors the head firmly in loose bark. Lifting the head on the rod spreads the bow-tie pattern over a wider circle. Set beside the stem, it sprays outward on both sides and keeps the base of the trunk dry. Netafim says one bow-tie stake can handle the work of two or more traditional spray stakes. Each bag holds 50 rod mount heads.

Running 7.9 GPH Double Spray Stakes on a Long Row

Match every head to a brown Netafim PC dripper assembly, since stake and assembly colors must agree. Netafim's own design example uses this flow at 48 in spacing, 35 psi and 3/4 in PE pipe. That layout supports a maximum run of 348 ft, watering 87 pots. A zone of 500 stations at this flow needs about 66 GPM of supply. Hold the system between 22 and 55 psi, and add slope allowances with a Netafim dealer on hilly ground. Central filtration at 120 mesh protects the drippers, backed up by the inlet filter in each assembly. After every cycle the check valve feature keeps the pipe full instead of draining to low spots. To skip a pot, move the tube and nipple from the top of the stake to its side. Spray angles downward, so even breezy days carry little water away as mist. Check rod depth after the first few irrigations, since bark mixes can settle.
