Flow decides it. The 1 in body tops out at 26 GPM, and this one runs 10 to 35 GPM. Note the minimum as much as the maximum. Below ten the discs will not compress properly, so oversizing a filter into a small line is its own mistake. Ports step up to 1.5 in MPT. If you need more than 35 GPM the Super body carries the same threads out to 52 GPM.
Arkal Disc Filter Rings and the Mesh You Need
Netafim acquired Arkal, and this is that platform. An arkal disc filter and a Netafim manual disc filter are the same thing in most catalogues. The mechanism has not changed. Grooved polymer rings stack and compress under working pressure. Water crosses the channels between them, so debris is trapped through the depth of the column. It holds far more dirt than a screen of equivalent rating before pressure starts to fall. This body carries the 120 mesh red stack at roughly 130 micron. Black 140 mesh is the finer option at about 115 micron, and yellow 80 mesh the coarser at 200. Choose against the smallest orifice in the system rather than reaching for the finest. A stack finer than the line needs clogs sooner and costs pressure for nothing. Body and cover are reinforced polyamide, rated to 140 psi. Cleaning is manual: open it, lift the stack, rinse the rings.
