Three 1.5 in options exist and this is the largest. The standard body runs 10 to 35 GPM at 10 5/8 in long. This one is 14 1/2 in and carries 10 to 52 GPM, which covers the gap before a 2 in body becomes necessary. Threads are the same 1.5 in MPT either way, so the swap needs no new fittings.
Reading Mesh and Micron Across Arkal Filters
Netafim acquired Arkal, so arkal filters and Netafim manual disc filters are the same platform under two names. The colour coding runs consistently across the range, which is the useful part. Yellow is 80 mesh at roughly 200 micron and red is 120 at 130. The black 140 mesh in this body screens to roughly 115 micron. Green 200 mesh exists only on 2 in HP bodies. Pick against the smallest orifice downstream rather than the finest stack available, because over-filtering costs pressure and cleaning time without protecting anything extra. The disc principle is worth knowing. Grooved rings compress into a column under working pressure and water crosses the channels between them. Debris is caught through the depth of the stack instead of blinding one surface. That is why a disc holds far more dirt than a screen of the same rating. Cleaning is manual throughout.
