Netafim FlexNet Pipe for 60 in Beds, 2 in Size

Wide beds built on 5 ft centers need far fewer outlets per foot of header than a tight vegetable block. This FlexNet manifold, Netafim item 43003-005542 and model 05FX02PIPE50-60, spaces its outlets 60 in apart. Each one is welded integrally into the pipe and carries a 1/2 in female thread. Start connectors screw into those outlets, and the dripline slides onto the connector. With Netafim fittings the connection is leak-proof, with no Teflon tape and no glue. The pipe is the 2 in size, measuring 2.0 in inside and 2.09 in outside. Working pressure should stay at or below the 36.2 psi maximum for this diameter. Its polypropylene body is fully recyclable and holds up to UV and chemicals. Under pressure the pipe does not stretch lengthwise, tangle or bend. A full 328 ft coil, outlets included, weighs about 33 lb.

Plugging, Driving Over and Recoiling 60 Inch Bed Spacing Pipe

Any outlet that does not feed a bed is closed with a FlexNet flat plug. The plug carries a rubber O-ring that seals without Teflon, and it screws in with a flat-blade screwdriver. Its low profile lets the pipe recoil without damage to the plug or the pipe wall. If a plug weeps, back it off and tighten it again firmly. A tractor can cross the pipe while it is empty, as long as the wheels miss the outlets. Keep machinery off it when the soil is wet or when sharp objects lie underneath. With 5/8 in thinwall laterals at 92% uniformity and 1 psi friction loss, the header can run 155 ft for 1.46 GPM laterals or 110 ft for 2.50 GPM laterals. At 2 psi of friction loss those limits grow to 195 ft and 140 ft. Before recoiling, remove every start connector and coupling and drain the pipe. Wind the coil onto a core of about 4 in, then tie and stretch-wrap it for storage.
