Netafim Flexible Pipe: FlexNet 3 in, Outlets Every 40 in
Beds laid out on 40 in centers each need their own takeoff where the header crosses the bed ends. This FlexNet coil, Netafim item 43003-006242 and model 05FX03PIPE50-40, carries an outlet at every 40 in. Each outlet is welded into the pipe wall and threaded 1/2 in female. Netafim branching and lateral connectors thread in without Teflon or glue, and no special installation tools are needed. Nominal size is 3 in, with a 3.1 in inside diameter and a 0.030 in wall. Hold supply pressure within the 29 psi maximum recommended for this diameter. The pipe is 100% recyclable polypropylene with UV and chemical resistance for exposed field use. It has a low expansion rate and zero axial elongation, so it does not creep along the bed ends when charged. Unpressurized, it can be stepped on or driven over, and it will not tangle. Coil length is 328 ft, about 46 lb with the outlets.
Surface or Buried Runs With 40 Inch Outlet Spacing
FlexNet works as a transfer, distribution or manifold line, laid on the surface or installed below it. Either thinwall or heavywall dripline can be run from the outlets. For a buried manifold, a QFlex riser threads into each outlet and brings the connection up to the dripline. That riser is kink resistant and stays in place while the trench is backfilled. On the surface, faster layout and retrieval than a typical layflat installation can cut labor costs by 20 to 30%. With 5/8 in thinwall laterals at 92% uniformity and no slope, a 1 psi friction limit allows 243 ft of header at 1.46 GPM per lateral. The same limit allows 173 ft when each lateral draws 2.50 GPM. A 2 psi limit extends those runs to 313 ft and 220 ft. Seal any outlet that has no lateral with a threaded flat plug before the system is charged. At season end, remove the start connectors, drain the line and recoil it for storage.
