Hanging Bases for Netafim Misters, 24 in, Carton of 200
Hanging Netafim misters, foggers and sprinklers starts with a base that sets the drop and holds the head still. This carton, Netafim item 63000-005860 and model 0300HSAC-24, contains 200 bases. Each one hangs its head on 24 in of Super Flex UV White polyethylene tubing, 4/7 mm in size. The barb at the top seats in the polyethylene supply pipe. At the bottom, a barb x female connector receives the head. A white stabilizer weight on the tube keeps the head pointing straight down. Since the heads hang below the pipe, the pipe never drips onto the plants. The completely opaque white tube prevents algae from forming inside. UV resistant and reflective, it handles heat, direct sun and harsh chemicals while keeping the water cooler. Everything assembles by hand in the greenhouse, and heads are ordered separately.
Sizing Supply Pipe for a 24 Inch Hanging Assembly Line
Low density polyethylene is the recommended material for the sprinkler supply pipe. A line of CoolNet Pro foggers at 8.1 GPH runs on 3/4 in pipe for up to 150 ft. So does a line of VibroNet blue-nozzle misters averaging 9.2 GPH. Red-body SpinNet sprinklers at 18.4 GPH need 3/4 in pipe to 75 ft and 1 in pipe from 100 to 150 ft. Brown-body heads at 23.4 GPH follow the same pattern but stop at 125 ft. Pre-punched 3/4 in or 1 in polyethylene tubing with holes every 36 in is available to speed layout. Distributor and mainline pipes are sized to the total flow of the lines running together. In class 160 PVC at 5 fps, 3/4 in pipe carries about 10 GPM and 1 in about 17 GPM. A 1 1/2 in pipe carries about 37 GPM, and a 2 in pipe about 58 GPM. Distributor lines over 40 ft, mainlines over 100 ft or sloped sites call for a design professional.
