Tall houses with high trusses need the longest standard drop to bring heads down to working height. This bag holds 25 bases, Netafim item 63000-008361 and model 0300HSAC-48-B, each with 48 in of tubing. The tubing is Super Flex UV White polyethylene, a soft 4/7 mm line that hangs cleanly. Its barbed upper end pushes into the polyethylene supply pipe. At the lower end, a barb x female connector takes the sprinkler, mister or fogger head. A white stabilizer weight holds the head plumb over the tables on this long drop. With every head below the pipe, the pipe stays dry and never drips onto the crop. The opaque white wall keeps light out, so algae cannot grow in the line. It stands up to UV, heat, direct sun and harsh chemicals, and reflects heat to keep the water cooler. All parts assemble and disassemble by hand, right in the greenhouse.

Planning Head Height With a 48 Inch Sprinkler Drop

Start by walking the house and noting curtains, hanging baskets and other obstacles below the trusses. Decide whether aisles can be wetted, and review any cultural practices that affect head height. Typical layouts place heads from 2 ft up to 7 ft above the crop, depending on the head and the bay. Where an even longer drop is needed, the matching hanging assembly extension, item 63000-008461, adds tube length. A dedicated hanging sprinkler assembly tool, item 45000-002270, is made for those extra-long drops. Any position that should stay dry can take a plug that replaces the sprinkler or mister head. Heads ship as a separate part and connect to the base during installation. Pick a sprinkler for watering, a mister for germinating, and a fogger for humidifying or cooling. Sprinklers and misters run through a 35 psi regulator and a 120 mesh filter. The check valve in each head stops the line from draining onto the plants after shutdown.
