Netafim MegaNet Purple Sprinkler Head, Low Angle

Short, frequent cycles keep germinating beds and young plantings evenly moist without saturating them. This head, Netafim item 63600-004950 and model MGN15D-110HO, pairs a modest nozzle with a low 15° stream. Its purple cap identifies a 2.06 mm nozzle rated at 1.10 GPM nominal, at 33 psi. On MegaNet heads the cap color is a flow code, not the reclaimed-water marking used on landscape sprinklers. The flat throw keeps water under net roofs and low branches, and loses less of it to wind. Twin equal jets turn the rotor smoothly, so the pattern stays even around the circle. Small drops land softly and do not cut grooves into fine seedbeds. A filter inside the inlet catches debris before the nozzle can block. The pop-up cover stays closed until water pressure lifts it, which keeps insects out of the mechanism. UV-protected materials and resistance to fertilizers suit it to long seasons outdoors.

Planning Light Watering Cycles With the Purple Nozzle

Between 29 and 44 psi at the head, the nozzle flows about 1.14 GPM at 36 psi and 1.25 GPM at 44 psi. On a close 23 x 26 ft grid that applies about 0.18 to 0.20 in per hour. At 33 x 33 ft the rate drops to about 0.10 to 0.11 in per hour, a gentle figure for short, frequent cycles. Low hourly rates let water soak in between runs on heavy or crusting soils. To clean the filter, unscrew the upper body from the base and pull the filter down and out. Wash it from the inside with a water jet or compressed air, then refit it before reassembly. Never run the head without the filter in place, since grit can then reach the nozzle. Water pH should stay at 6.0 or higher for continuous use. Worn turbines on low-angle heads are replaced with the gray part 63620-002100. Keep the light-colored locking pin in place after service, because it secures the cover and turbine.
