A small well or a modest pump can still run a whole block when each head asks for under a gallon a minute. This MegaNet head, Netafim item 63600-004900 and model MGN15D-088HO, carries the yellow nozzle. The 1.85 mm orifice flows a nominal 0.88 GPM at 33 psi. A low 15° trajectory keeps that stream under nets, branches and the worst of the wind. Two identical jets drive the rotor, so the head turns evenly without wobbling on its riser. Drops land gently, which keeps seedbeds and fine soil from grooving. An integral filter in the inlet protects the small nozzle from grit. A pop-up mechanism opens only while water flows, so spiders and insects cannot nest in the nozzle between cycles. The body is UV protected and resistant to agrochemicals and injected nutrients. Mount it on a solid-set riser or a field stand through its 1/2 in male thread.
Running a Low Flow Block With the Yellow Nozzle
Within 29 to 44 psi, the yellow nozzle flows about 0.92 GPM at 36 psi and 1.01 GPM at 44 psi. Twenty heads at 36 psi draw only about 18 to 19 GPM, which a small pump can supply. On a 23 x 26 ft grid that applies about 0.15 to 0.16 in per hour. Wider grids up to 33 x 39 ft bring the rate down to roughly 0.07 in per hour. Water pH should stay at 6.0 or higher for continuous use. If a head ever runs without its filter, the nozzle can be cleaned with two service keys. One key holds the diverter holder, while the second turns the diverter counterclockwise to release it. Flush the nozzle from the top with a water jet or compressed air. Reverse the steps until the diverter clicks home, and refit the filter before restarting. Low-angle heads take the gray turbine, part 63620-002100, when it is replaced.
