Netafim Hanging Basket Dripper, SlimLine EZ Close, 36 in

Baskets hung at two heights from one line get equal watering when every dripper delivers the same flow, whatever its tube length. This pack, Netafim item 40201-015405 and model 01HBA2W-36, holds 25 ready-made drops. Each one starts at a red WPCJ dripper, rated 0.53 GPH, pressure compensating and fitted with a check valve. A 36 in length of Super Flex UV White polyethylene tube carries the water down to the basket. That tube is the 5/3 mm size, with an inside diameter near 0.125 in. The white EZ Close weight at the end measures 2 1/4 by 1/2 in and weighs roughly 0.4 oz. One hand is enough to close it, and its position shows at a glance whether the dripper is open or shut. Closing a weight stops water and fertilizer from falling on plants and walkways when a basket is removed. The slim body slides out of trailing foliage at harvest, so fewer weights go missing. Heavier than many basket weights, it stays seated in the pot through every cycle.

Watering Multi-Tier Baskets on One Line

Because each pressure-compensating dripper flows the same regardless of tube length, drop lengths can be mixed on a single line. Shorter drops can water the upper tier while these longer drops reach the baskets hanging below. Each dripper emits the same amount to both levels, with about 94 percent uniformity across the system. The built-in check valve stops the line from draining onto the lowest baskets after each cycle. Slow application lets the media take up water without running off around the rim. At 0.5 GPH each, a zone of 200 baskets needs about 2 GPM, and 1,000 baskets about 8 GPM. Supply pipe sizing for these drippers commonly assumes about 35 psi at the inlet and at least 10 psi at the last dripper. Keep each dripper inside its 10 to 45 psi compensating range. Vining and aggressive-rooting crops grow around the weight without lifting it out. Shut drippers off at the weight as baskets ship, and open them again when the hook is refilled.
