What the Nutrient Delivery System Starter Kit Contains

Six parts and the plumbing to join them. An incoming on/off ball valve, an in-line pre-filter and a pressure regulator with gauge. Then a freshwater test port, a check valve, and all the 3/4 in connections. Part number is DSSK34, also listed as HYKSTART. The kit ships at 4 lbs in a 13 x 7 x 5 in box.

Why a 200 Mesh Pre Filter Sits Ahead of the Injector

An injector is a precision piston driven by your water, and grit is what wrecks it. The 200 mesh pre filter, which screens to 80 micron, sits upstream so sand, scale and pipe debris never reach the moving parts. It is the least costly component here and it protects the dearest one. The regulator matters for the same reason. Injectors have an inlet pressure window, and municipal supply wanders outside it more than people expect. The gauge means you can see where you are rather than guess. The check valve is the part nobody thinks about until an inspection. It stops nutrient solution travelling backwards into the supply line. That protects your potable water, and on a commercial site it is usually a code requirement rather than an option an inspector will let slide. The freshwater test port lets you draw a sample upstream of the injection point. When a reading looks wrong, that separates a source water problem from a dosing one. You do not have to break the line apart to find out.

Key Features

  • 200 mesh, 80 micron pre-filter: Grit is what kills an injector piston. The least costly part protects the dearest.
  • Pressure regulator with gauge: Injectors have an inlet pressure window and mains supply wanders outside it.
  • Check valve: Stops nutrient travelling back into the supply. Usually a code requirement, not an option.
  • Freshwater test port: Sample upstream of injection and tell a source water problem from a dosing one.
  • Incoming ball valve: Isolate the injector for service without shutting the whole line down.
  • All 3/4 in connections: Part DSSK34, also listed as HYKSTART. Ships at 4 lbs.
