Oasis root cubes in a 1.25 in size, 104 to a sheet and 20 sheets to a case for 2,080 pre-punched cells. The sterile foam keeps cuttings hydrated and aerated while they callus and root, then each cube cuts free for transplant.

Oasis Root Cubes, 104 Cells to a Sheet

This sheet packs 104 cubes into an 8 x 13 grid, each one 1.25 in square with a pre-punched hole. A case holds 20 sheets, or 2,080 cells, and every sheet fits a standard 1020 tray. That density fits large batches of cuttings onto limited bench space. The medium is an engineered hydrophilic foam made for callus formation and fast root development. Total porosity runs 90 to 96 percent, with 10 to 14 percent air space even when the foam is saturated. Water holding capacity sits at 80 to 86 percent, so a cutting stays hydrated between waterings. The foam ships dry at 0 percent moisture, with a pH of 5.0 to 5.8. EC starts at 0.4 to 0.6 mS/cm, and a low cation exchange capacity keeps salts from accumulating. Sheets arrive sterile and pathogen-free. A full case ships at about 6 lb in a 19.8 x 15.5 x 21.0 in carton.

Oasis Rooting Cubes Sized for Busy Propagation Benches

Saturate the sheet with water or a cutting solution, then let the excess drain away. Stick tip cuttings into the holes after a dip in rooting hormone. Smaller cubes suit shorter cuttings and leave less media to wet and drain between irrigations. Keep the tray shaded for the first few days, and hold it warm by day and slightly cooler at night. Water lightly whenever the surface begins to dry, without leaving the foam waterlogged. Good hydration in the cube means less misting than cuttings stuck in loose media. Uniform cells give an even air-to-water balance, so rooting tends to progress evenly across the flat. Once roots appear on the outside, cut along the rows to free each cube. The whole cube moves into soil or a soilless mix, so roots stay undisturbed and transplant shock stays low. Poinsettias, geraniums, hibiscus, fuchsia, foliage plants, perennials, woody ornamentals and tomatoes all start well here.
