Why OxiDate 2.0 Is the Same Registration as ZeroTol
This product and ZeroTol 2.0 are one formulation sold under two names. Both sit on EPA registration 70299-12, which is why both names travel together. The split is market rather than chemistry: one label leans edible crops, the other ornamentals. Actives are hydrogen peroxide at 27.1 percent and peroxyacetic acid at 2.0 percent. The signal word is DANGER, and the label lists irreversible eye damage and skin burns. It kills on contact through oxidation, leaving no residue behind on the surface. Preventative foliar rate is 32 to 64 fl oz per 100 gallons, which is a 1:400 to 1:200 dilution. A curative pass goes to one gallon per 100 gallons, or 1:100. Pre-harvest interval is zero days and it is exempt from residue tolerances. Entry is one hour after fogging or spraying indoors, and zero hours for non-spray methods. This is the five gallon container.
Peroxyacetic Acid, Contact Only, and What That Rules Out
Peroxyacetic acid is the sharper of the two actives and it is what does the fast work. It also means the product is strictly contact, with nothing moving inside the plant. Coverage is therefore everything, and a missed underside is an untreated underside. Nothing is left behind to protect new growth, so the interval between passes matters more than the rate. It suits foliar sprays, soil drenches, pre-plant dips and seed treatment. It handles algae on benches, floors and irrigation lines as readily as pathogens on leaves. One restriction is easy to miss and expensive to get wrong. Do not tank mix it with copper or with any pesticide containing metals. Undiluted handling calls for coveralls, rubber gloves, chemical resistant boots and eye protection. It gets described as safe for use up to harvest, which a DANGER label does not support.
