What Is Actually in This 3-1-2 Organic Fertilizer
The three numbers on this bag describe the fertiliser half of the product. Total nitrogen is 3%, split 0.75% water soluble against 2.25% water insoluble, with 1% available phosphate and 2% soluble potash. That split matters more than the headline: three quarters of the nitrogen is slow release, so it feeds over weeks rather than in one flush. It is derived from hydrolyzed feather meal, meat meal, bone meal, poultry meal, blood meal, fish meal and langbeinite. The microbial half is where the propagule counts live. Mycorrhizal fungi total 467,046 propagules per gram, overwhelmingly ectomycorrhizal, led by Pisolithus tinctorius at 220,000 and Suillus granulatus at 145,000. Twelve bacteria ride alongside, from Bacillus licheniformis at 1.7 million CFU per gram down to Bacillus subtilis at 175,000. Two Trichoderma species and Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast round it out.
Rates for a Granular Mycorrhizae Inoculant at Transplant
Granules want contact with root, which is the one rule that governs everything else. Sprinkle it into the planting hole, onto the rootball, or blend it through a potting mix before you fill. Scattering it on the surface of an established pot wastes most of it, since the spores never reach a root tip. Transplant rates run a quarter teaspoon from seed to a four inch pot, then a teaspoon at one gallon. Three gallon takes four teaspoons and five gallon takes two to four tablespoons. Woody stock takes more: four to six tablespoons at a one inch caliper stem and six to eight at two inches. For blending into media the rate is four to eight ounces per two and a half cubic feet of soil. Both certifications are real and worth the premium if you are selling into a certified channel. The honest limit is that a 1 lb tub does not go far at transplant rates. Anyone potting a room at five gallon will empty this in one session. The 25 lb version is a separate item for exactly that reason.
