Quest part 4042545-01 is a pleated panel of MERV 13 media in a 20 x 22 x 2 frame. It is the only thing between a 335's evaporator coil and whatever the room throws off. Leaf dust, perlite grit, spent media, spores. MERV 13 is the densest grade Quest builds for this chassis. The EPA puts it at 50 percent or better capture from 0.3 to 1 micron, the range spores travel in. From 3 to 10 microns, where visible dust sits, it rises to 90 percent. Quest's own framing is that the grade runs 20 percent more effective than MERV 11 and 65 percent more than MERV 8. The payoff is a coil that stays clean and a unit that holds its rated capacity instead of fighting a loaded face. A dehumidifier working through clogged media pulls the same power for fewer pints.

Quest publishes this filter for the 335 at unit part 4042500, the 335 277V at 4042600 and the 375 50-Hz at 4046200-NC. One panel per unit. The measurement reads the same 20 x 22 x 2 off the Quest catalog or off a tape measure. It is the only filter in this line where those two agree. Match on the part number anyway, because Anden's DH35813 shares those three numbers and will not fit a 335. On timing, Quest's 335 manual says to check the filter every six months and change it at least that often. For agriculture it goes further and calls for a change with every grow cycle. That also keeps spores from riding a dirty panel into the next crop. That is the honest trade with MERV 13. The density that keeps spores off the coil is the same density that fills up sooner than a coarser grade would. The manual is blunt about the other end of it too. Running the unit without a filter, or with a less effective one, can clog the heat exchange coils. Quest states that it also invalidates the warranty.
