Quest part 4039391 is a pleated MERV 13 panel cut to the Dual overhead's filter opening. Nothing about the unit or the install changes. What changes is the media. The EPA holds MERV 13 to 50 percent or better capture from 0.3 to 1 micron. MERV 11 is only held to 20 percent on that same band. It is where mold spores travel. Quest's own wording is 20 percent more effective than MERV 11 and 65 percent more than MERV 8. In practice that is the difference between a coil that stays clean through a cycle and one that films over. A clean coil is a machine still making its rated pints. Quest publishes this panel for the Dual 105 at unit part 4032270 and the Dual 155 at 4031490. The Dual 165 uses 4037410, the Dual 205 uses 4033060 and the Dual 225 uses 4035400. The Quest 155 50-Hz, part 4037400, takes it as well. Read the part number off the data plate first. A Next Gen 155, 205 or 225 carries the same pint rating on a different chassis and takes an 18 x 18 x 2 instead. Two limits worth knowing before making the swap. Quest does not list this MERV 13 for the Hi-E Dry 120 or Hi-E Dry 195. The MERV 11 panel in the same size does cover them. And finer media loads sooner, so a dusty room reaches the change interval faster than it would on MERV 11. Quest's manual for this family says to check the filter every six months and change it at least that often. For agriculture it calls for a change with every grow cycle.
