This is the replacement outer sleeve for Can-Filters size 100 carbon filters, part number 700725. It slips over the outside of the filter body and catches airborne particulate before it reaches the carbon bed. Can-Filters rates the mesh at MERV-5, a grade that stops pollen, dust and similar debris. The media has very low air resistance, so a clean sleeve costs your fan almost nothing in airflow. That changes as it loads up. A clogged pre-filter chokes airflow across the whole filter surface, and the fan works harder for less exhaust. Dust that gets past a worn sleeve settles into the carbon itself. Once that happens, no amount of cleaning brings the carbon back. A new sleeve takes minutes to fit and costs far less than a replacement filter. It is the easiest maintenance job in the ventilation line.

Stretching Carbon Filter Life With Regular Sleeve Changes
