What the Hanna Checker Electrode Swaps Out

The electrode unscrews from the meter body and a new one screws on. No tools, no soldering, nothing to open. The body is a slim 8 mm tube with a spherical tip. That is narrow enough to read inside a test tube or a sample vial, rather than needing a beaker. On the tester it serves, the Checker reads 0.0 to 14.0 pH at 0.1 resolution and ±0.2 accuracy. A fresh electrode is what keeps it inside that figure.

Which Spare pH Electrode Your Checker Actually Takes

Hanna has two parts here and they do not cross generations. Current HI98103 testers take the HI1271, which also covers the HI98100 and the HI98115. The HI1270 is the electrode for the earlier HI98103. Unscrew the one on your meter and read the number printed on it first. Keep the tip wet in storage solution between uses, never dry and never sitting in plain water. And treat it as a consumable rather than a repair. A glass electrode ages on the shelf as well as in the tank, so a spare bought years early is not really a spare.
