What Comes in the 8 Bucket DWC System

Everything except the media. Eight 5 gallon buckets with watertight seals, eight 8 in baskets, one multi-output air pump, and a hose to every bucket. Fittings are 1/2 in grommets and elbows with 1/4 in tubing. Each bucket stands 12.3 x 12.3 in. Clay pebbles are sold separately.

Why the Active Aqua Root Spa Runs Without Air Stones

The hose goes to the bottom of the bucket and releases raw air there. No stone sits in the solution. That is a deliberate choice and it cuts both ways, so it is worth understanding before you commit forty gallons to it. On the credit side, an air stone is a consumable. It clogs with mineral salts and biofilm, output falls off quietly, and you replace it. Take it out of the design and one recurring failure and one recurring cost disappear. On the debit side, raw air breaks into coarser bubbles than a stone produces. Fine bubbles hold more contact time with the solution, so a stone can dissolve oxygen more efficiently at the same pump output. The active aqua root spa trades some of that efficiency for a system that keeps running without maintenance. On eight sites that is usually the right trade.
