Setting Up a 3-Speed Duct Fan in a Grow Tent
In a grow tent or small room, this fan usually pulls air through a carbon filter and pushes it out of the space. Hang it near the top of the tent, where heat collects, using the bracket or straps fixed to the frame. Connect the carbon filter to the inlet side and run the outlet duct to an exhaust point outside the tent. Clamp both collars and seal the joints with foil tape. Leave a lower vent open, or add an intake, so fresh air replaces what the fan removes. Pick the high setting while the lights run and heat builds. Switch to a lower speed during the dark period. Slight inward pull on the tent walls shows the exhaust is ahead of the intake. The fan also works as an inline booster on a longer duct run. A backdraft damper on the outlet stops cold air flowing back when it is off. Unplug it before cleaning, then wipe dust from the impeller between crops.
