Solis Tek C1 315W CMH complete fixture, built as one hang-and-strike system

The C1 is an all-in-one 315W ceramic metal halide system from Solis Tek, with reflector, digital ballast and lamp in one box. Overall it measures 16 x 25 x 5 in, the reflector is 16 x 10.5 x 5 in, and the ballast is 8 x 6 x 5 in. The ballast accepts either 120V or 240V input. It is a low-frequency digital unit carrying the brand's Ignition Control, SenseSmart and Soft Start circuitry. Solis Tek pitched those three as a gentler, more stable strike, which is easier on a ceramic arc tube than a hard start. It runs 315W ceramic metal halide lamps only, so HPS and standard MH bulbs are off the table. Fixtures can be daisy chained, up to four units on 120V or eight on 240V. Coverage guidance is 3 x 3 ft as the sole light indoors and 4 x 4 ft as primary greenhouse lighting. As supplemental light over an existing greenhouse crop, one fixture can stretch to 5 x 5 ft or more. A Solis Tek 315W CMH lamp comes in the kit, and the reflector carries a mirror finish.

Running a ceramic metal halide complete fixture in a tent or small room

A small flower tent is where this fixture makes the most sense as the only light. The shallow hood leaves more working height between lamp and canopy than a tall parabolic reflector would. Most growers start a single CMH about two feet above the tops and adjust from leaf response, watching for bleached tips. On the very first strike, let the lamp run continuously for at least fifteen minutes so it beds in properly. Drawing roughly half the wattage of a 600W HPS, it adds far less heat, so a modest exhaust fan usually keeps up. Ceramic metal halide also renders colour naturally, which makes scouting for mites and deficiencies easier under the lamp. If you swap lamps later, a lamp near 3000K leans toward flower, while a 4000K-plus lamp favors vegetative growth. Daisy-chaining lets one outlet feed a short run of fixtures. The unit cap exists because every fixture on that chain shares one circuit, so plan the breaker before adding lights. It came out of the Solis Tek digital lighting line, the same family as the brand's digital HID ballasts.
