Why the Sun System 630W LEC Ships With 4200K
Voltage first: this build runs on 347 / 480 volt service only, so a 120 or 240 volt room needs a different version. The difference from its sibling is colour temperature, and it changes what you see. A 4200K ceramic lamp spreads its output more evenly across the visible range with a peak nearer 500 nm. It reads as crisp white light rather than the orange cast of a 3100K, and it carries noticeably more energy at the blue end.
Choosing 4200K CMH Lamps Over the Warmer Option
Blue-weighted light is what plants get outdoors in high summer, which is why 4200k cmh lamps are the conventional pick for vegetative growth. Compact internodes, tight structure, less stretch. The white rendering is also easier to work under. Scouting for mites or early mildew under an orange lamp is genuinely harder, and a whiter room is a room where problems get spotted sooner. The honest trade is raw output. On our own bench test of 315W ceramic lamps, the best 4200K came in around 5% behind the leading 3100K on total PAR. That gap is small enough to be worth the spectrum and the visibility during veg. It is also large enough that most growers still flip to a warmer lamp for flower. Two 315W lamps draw 630W together in this fixture.
Key Features
- 347 / 480 volt commercial build: Not a 120 or 240 volt fixture. Confirm your service before ordering this version.
- Dual 315W lamps, 630W total: Two horizontal ceramic metal halide lamps in a single fixture body.
- 4200K, peaking nearer 500 nm: A broad white spectrum with more energy at the blue end than the 3100K option.
- The conventional veg spectrum: Blue-weighted light keeps internodes compact and structure tight through vegetative growth.
- Easier to work and scout under: White rendering makes mites and early mildew far easier to spot than orange light does.
- 98% reflective German aluminum: Paired with 95% reflective textured corners for output, uniformity and diffusion.
