Press Club x Byrd Extracts Temple Ball Roller

The Press Club built this roller with Byrd Extracts, and hash makers tested it through development. It is a hollow borosilicate glass body that is filled with boiling water and rolled over resin sealed in a press pouch. The heat softens the resin while the weight of the glass presses it flat, turns it and works out air pockets. Handles on both ends are vacuum-sealed, so they act as a heat barrier between hot water and bare hands. Grip at each end spreads pressure evenly across the pouch on every pass. A wide middle body holds a generous volume of hot water, so it stays warm through a long session. A custom branded stopper closes the fill opening and keeps the water inside while the roller turns. Wooden anti-roll supports hold it still on the bench between passes. The base hides a storage compartment for small tools or a temple ball set aside to age. Everything packs into a heavy-duty hard case lined with protective foam. That case makes the glass easy to carry between a home bench and a processing room.

Pressing Resin With a Hash Roller

A hash roller works on well-dried resin, such as sieved or ice water hash, sealed in a heat-safe pouch. Fill the roller with freshly boiled water, seat the stopper and dry the outside of the glass. Lay it on the pouch and let the heat soak in for a moment before rolling. Roll slowly, flip the pouch and repeat until the resin turns glossy and pliable all the way through. Squeeze the pouch gently between passes to check for unmelted spots. Once it is soft, lift the resin out and fold it into a block with clean fingers. Work it into a smooth dumpling, then roll it between cupped palms until the surface is taut and shiny. Avoid overworking it, and roll faster in smaller circles as it cools. Set the finished ball on parchment, where it will settle a little as oils express. Refresh the water whenever the glass cools enough that the resin stops softening.
