ThinkGrow OPA-2 Meters and Protects Every LED String
A full LED string can run close to a circuit's limit, and a panel breaker shows nothing about the actual load. The OPA-2 is an electronic circuit breaker and energy meter that installs at the head of each ThinkGrow string. Main power is hard-wired into the box, and the first fixture connects through ThinkGrow's push-lock daisy-chain power cord. A backlit screen shows live voltage, current, watts and power factor. TrolMaster rates voltage and current readings to ±2% and power to ±5%. The box accepts 100–277V at 50 or 60Hz, covering standard commercial lighting circuits. Communication with TrolMaster controllers runs over RS-485, so the same readings appear at the controller. The OPA-2 can also stand in for an LMA-G group adapter. It holds Line 1 and Line 2 levels for light groups 0–9, plus UV, white, deep red and far red values for spectrum groups 0–9. TrolMaster lists it as ETL and FCC marked, conforming to UL 60730-1 and certified to CAN/CSA E60730-1.
Setting Trip Points on a Grow Light Circuit Breaker
Hold the front button for five seconds to open the overload menu. Tap to cycle through 15A, 20A and 30A, then hold again to confirm the choice. If current climbs 20% past that point, the box cuts power within half a second. Holding the button for five seconds after a trip restores power once the fault is cleared. Pick the setting that matches the branch circuit, not just the fixtures on it. To wire the feed, remove two screws, pass the supply cable through the gland and land it on the three terminals. The back plate mounts to a wall, and the chassis screws onto it from both sides. Install it indoors where it cannot get wet, and have a licensed electrician make the supply connection. The box includes an ECS-7 daisy-chain control cable, two ECS-9 RJ12 to 4-pin IP65 cables and two Y-splitters. For non-ThinkGrow loads on the output, pair it with the DOA-10 hardwire cord.
