ThinkGrow Model-C Gives Clones Gentle, Even Light
Fresh cuttings need light to root, but too much intensity can stress them before roots form. The Model-C is built for that early stage. Each bar draws 18 watts and puts out 36 µmol/s from a single full spectrum channel. That works out to 2.0 µmol/J, a low and steady output suited to clones, seedlings and young plants. ThinkGrow designed the spectrum around root development and first leaf growth. The driver is built in and autosenses 100–277V, with a power factor of at least 90%. Each bar is about 44.1 in long, 1.4 in wide and just over an inch tall, so it fits tight rack shelves. The housing is rated IP66 with protected diodes for humid propagation rooms. ThinkGrow rates the diodes at L90 beyond 54,000 hours and backs them with a 5-year warranty. The bars run in rooms from -4 to 104°F.
Hanging a Clone Light Bar Over a Rack
Two bars come in the box, along with a 12 ft 120V power cord, four steel clips and four cable ties. Fasten the steel clips to a solid structure such as Unistrut or a grow rack shelf. Space each pair of clips no more than four feet apart. Press the fixture into both clips until it locks in place. Keep the bar more than six inches above the tops of the plants. To extend a row, set the input of one bar next to the output of the next. Remove the protective caps, then push the connectors together and lock them. ThinkGrow states that one power source can run up to 90 bars in a daisy chain. Size the circuit for the combined load before building long chains. Plug in the included cord only after every connection in the chain is locked. The package ships at 47.54 × 2.72 × 3.35 in and weighs 3.75 lbs.
