ThinkGrow DR-1 Adds a Dimmable Deep Red Channel to Model One
Many flowering rooms run extra red once plants switch to bloom. The DR-1 gives that red its own control. One channel carries full spectrum white light, and the other carries deep red. On a TLD-2 driver each channel dims separately from 0 to 100%. Growers can keep a balanced spectrum in veg and lift the red channel for flower. The bar draws 90 watts and puts out 243 µmol/s of PPF. That makes it the highest-output two-channel bar in the Model One line. ThinkGrow rates the TLD-2 and DR-1 pairing at 2.7 µmol/J. The housing is sealed to IP56, and the diodes are rated L90 beyond 54,000 hours. The manual lists the bar at 45.35 × 2.68 × 2.20 in with a gross weight of 1.65 lbs.
Building a Fixture With a Deep Red LED Bar
Hang TLD-2 drivers on an MB-series mounting bar and click a DR-1 into each one. The finished fixture measures about 45 in long, 2.05 in wide and 4.04 in tall. Mount it more than six inches above the canopy. DR-1 bars can share a mounting bar with FR-1 or TLB bars for a custom mix. Connect the drivers with TDC-2, TDC-3 or TDC-4 daisy-chain cords. A TDC-120, TDC-240 or TDC-277 splitter cord then carries power and the controller signal to each group. Hydrofarm lists dimming from an onboard knob or from TrolMaster controllers. With a controller, the red channel can follow its own schedule through the day. The driver and power cords are sold separately. For far red or UV control, the FR-1 and TLB-1 are the matching options.
