ThinkGrow FR-1 Puts Far Red on Its Own Channel
Far red is useful, but most growers do not want it at the same level all day. The FR-1 separates it from the rest of the spectrum. One channel carries full spectrum white light, and the second carries far red only. On a TLD-2 driver the two channels dim independently from 0 to 100%. That makes it simple to add a far red boost at the end of the day or hold it back in veg. The bar draws 90 watts and puts out 234 µmol/s of PPF. ThinkGrow rates the TLD-2 and FR-1 pairing at 2.6 µmol/J. It is sealed to IP56 and its diodes are rated L90 beyond 54,000 hours. The manual lists the bar at 45.35 × 2.68 × 2.20 in with a gross weight of 1.65 lbs. The box holds one FR-1 bar with no driver or cord.
Adding a Far Red LED Bar to a Model One Fixture
Hang TLD-2 drivers on an MB-series mounting bar, then click an FR-1 into each one. The assembled fixture runs about 45 in long, 2.05 in wide and 4.04 in tall. Mount it more than six inches above the canopy. FR-1 bars can share a mounting bar with DR-1 or TLB bars to build a mixed spectrum. Link the drivers with TDC-2, TDC-3 or TDC-4 daisy-chain cords. A TDC-120, TDC-240 or TDC-277 splitter cord feeds power and the controller signal to each group. A TrolMaster controller can then run a far red schedule separate from the main light cycle. Drivers, cords and mounting bars are sold separately. If a room needs UV as well, the four-channel TLB-1 adds it on a TLD-4 driver.
