ThinkGrow TLD-4 Gives Model One Full Four-Channel Spectrum Control
In the Model One system, every light bar gets its own driver. The TLD-4 is the advanced version of that driver. It offers four control channels, one each for full spectrum, deep red, far red and UV. Each channel dims on its own from 0 to 100% over RS485 using the Modbus protocol. That lets a TrolMaster controller change the spectrum as plants move from veg to flower. The driver runs a single 90W bar, such as the TLB-1, TLB-2 or TLB-3. Input is 100–277VAC at 50/60Hz with a power factor of at least 96%. Amperage draw is 0.77A at 120V, 0.39A at 240V and 0.35A at 277V. The housing is rated IP56 and marked suitable for damp locations. The manual lists a gross weight of 2.27 lbs per driver.
Installing a Horticultural LED Driver on a Mounting Bar
Fit the twist lock plate to an MB-series mounting bar, then twist the TLD-4 onto it. Keep more than 115 mm between drivers, using the scale plate on the bar as a guide. Alternate the direction of each driver so the male and female power leads line up. Link neighboring drivers with TDC-2, TDC-3 or TDC-4 daisy-chain cords. A TDC-120 or TDC-240 splitter cord feeds power and the controller link to the first driver in each group. The manual caps a group at 11 drivers on a 120-volt feed and 22 on a 240-volt feed. The driver label also marks a ten-unit maximum, so confirm group sizes against the manual. Click a TLB light bar into the socket and make sure it is fully seated.
