How the Triminator XL Trim Bin Works
This clear plastic bin rides in slots under the XL Dry drum and catches the leaf the shear band cuts away. Black tabs on the front and back of the frame turn vertical to lock it in place. Triminator describes the bin as both a collection tray and a safety guard for the cutting area below the drum. The machine is not meant to run without the bin fitted and the tabs locked. Clear industrial-grade plastic shows the trim level without stopping the run. Smooth walls tip out cleanly and wipe down fast between strains. The bin weighs about 3 lb and needs no mounting hardware. Triminator changed the bin design in May 2020, and bins of the newer design do not fit older XL Dry machines. Check the build date or serial number of the trimmer before ordering. A spare bin lets one fill while the other is emptied or washed.
Emptying the Trim Collection Drawer
A trim collection drawer fills quickly on a big dry run, so plan to empty it often. Switch the trimmer off and unplug it before reaching toward the bin. Turn the black tabs to horizontal, then slide the bin out of its slots. Empty the trim into a bag or tray set aside for extraction or other projects. Slide the bin back in and turn the tabs vertical before restarting the drum. Wash it in warm, soapy water at the end of the day, and skip abrasive pads that cloud the plastic. Keeping one bin per strain makes it easy to store trim separately. Empty it well before the trim reaches the rim, since an overfull bin spills when it slides out. Let it dry fully before it goes back under the drum.
