Placing a 1.5 Inch Flow Meter on a Main Line
A 1.5 inch flow meter belongs where a large pump feeds a whole room or several zones. Install it downstream of the pump and filter, before the line branches to the zone valves. Orient it with the direction of flow and support heavy pipe on both sides of the meter. Use PTFE tape on the NPT adaptors and tighten without forcing the fittings. Keep the LCD facing the walkway so readings can be checked on every round. Run the RJ12 cable to the Aqua-X Pro or an SPH-1 hub, away from wet areas. Enter each zone's target volume and confirm the first totals with a measured fill. A total that climbs on an unchanged program points to a leak worth chasing. A total that falls often means filters or drippers need attention. Flush the pipework before installation so debris does not catch inside the meter.
