Label both ends with tape before closing up the run, which saves time when the room is full of foliage. Leave a little slack at each connector so a bumped cable does not tug a plug half out of its jack. Avoid pinching the cable in doors or under heavy equipment, since a crushed jacket can drop the signal. These are low-voltage data cables, so they should not share a tight bundle with high-wattage power cords. If a sensor goes offline after a move, reseat the plugs before blaming the device.
