What the TrolMaster PCT-1 Reads, and Where It Plugs In

Two readings from one cylinder is the practical argument for this probe over a pair of separate ones. Conductivity and water temperature come back on the same lead, which halves the terminal count on the sensor board. The terminal is a mini DIN, and it goes straight into the board with no adapter between. Which board depends on the controller, and more than one of them applies. An Aqua-X NFS-1 takes the AMP-2, while the NFS-2 and NFS-3 take the AMP-3. A Green-X GCS-1 and a Tent-X TCS-1 both take the AMP-3 as well, so this probe is not an irrigation only part. The lead is 3.6 m long, which is what lets a probe sit in a tank across the room. Working range is 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit at 90 percent humidity or below. Packed size is 275 mm by 85 mm by 95 mm.

Reservoir Monitoring in Practice

Reservoir monitoring goes wrong in the same three ways on almost every site. The probe gets hung too near the return, so it reads the incoming line rather than the tank. It gets left where the level drops below it, and a probe reading air reads nonsense. Or it sits in a dead corner where nothing circulates and the number lags the room by an hour. Hang it mid depth, in moving water, away from the return and away from the heater. Conductivity moves with temperature, which is part of why the two readings come on one probe. A tank that warms four degrees through the afternoon will show a conductivity change that is not a feed change. Treat any electrode as a consumable rather than a fixture, because response slows long before it fails outright. Log the reading against a handheld meter every few weeks and replace the probe when the gap stops closing. That comparison is your calibration reference.
