TrolMaster DSR-1 Switches Big Loads the Plug-In Modules Can't

The standard DS device stations are plug-in modules that suit fans, small heaters and CO2 valves. The DSR-1 is the high-current option, with an output rated to 25A. It takes 100–277V at 50/60Hz and passes the same voltage through to the load. That covers 120V and 240V circuits as well as 277V commercial lighting and HVAC circuits. In the controller menu it can act as a temperature (DST), humidity (DSH), CO2 (DSC) or timer (DSP) module. It works with the Hydro-X, Aqua-X, Tent-X, Carbon-X and Green-X controllers. TrolMaster built in overload protection, a local override and an alarm for stuck relay contacts. The module body measures 4.88 × 1.70 × 3.12 in, and it is rated for rooms from 32 to 104°F. In the box are the relay station, a 0.5 ft RJ12 cable and a 4 ft RJ12 cable. It ships in a 4.7 × 1.7 × 3.1 in package at 0.77 lbs gross weight.

Wiring a 25 Amp Relay Device Station Into the Room

Unlike the plug-in stations, this unit has Power In and Loader terminals, so it is wired in rather than plugged in. Plan on a licensed electrician for the line side, sized to the breaker and wire gauge of the load. TrolMaster's mini controller cabinet holds up to six of these relays next to the main controller. Once powered, press the Add/Override button so the controller can address the module. A fast-blinking green LED means it has not been addressed or has lost its link to the controller. Slow green means it is linked with the output off, and solid green means the output is on. In CO2 mode, a slow red blink means the relay contacts failed to open and TrolMaster support should be called. In timer mode, the same red blink points to an overload, which the Add/Override button resets. That contact alarm matters for CO2, where a welded relay could keep a burner or regulator running. For loads under the plug-in module ratings, a standard DS station is simpler to install.
