Two requirements on this alarm are easy to miss on a device described as plug and go. The first is the controller. This head displays and alarms, but the threshold it alarms against is set on a Carbon-X main controller. Without a Carbon-X in the installation there is nothing to tell it what counts as too high. The second requirement is power. The unit requires an SPH-1 for supplemental power, and that is a separate item which is not in this box. Then there is the sensing. The alarm reads from a Trolmaster CO2 sensor channel, either an AL-1 or an AL-2. It can be wired to one channel or to both. Wiring both channels gives redundancy. On a device whose only job is to warn a person, a second channel is worth the cost. It is not an upgrade to consider later. Look at what is already mounted on that wall and pick the colour that is not there. If the building already uses amber beacons for machinery faults or for a fire panel, a blue head reads instantly as something else. If the room is lit by high pressure sodium, blue stands out against that orange cast far better than amber does. Amber is the better choice under a blue heavy light emitting diode spectrum, for the same reason in reverse. There is one more consideration that nobody raises.
