TrolMaster SCC-D2 Turns the SCC-2 Into a Blank, Sealed Enclosure

The SCC-2 cabinet ships with a front door that has a window cut for a Hydro-X Pro or Aqua-X Pro controller. That opening only makes sense when one of those two controllers is the unit going in. The SCC-D2 replaces it with a solid door that has no cutout at all. TrolMaster describes it as the part that converts the SCC-2 into a solid, sealed enclosure for its other controllers. It is sized for the 35-inch SCC-2 only. The shorter SCC-1 and SCC-3 cabinets take the 25-inch SCC-D door instead. The SCC-2 itself is an IP56 cabinet, which TrolMaster compares to a NEMA 4X rating. On the stock door, a rubber gasket around the controller window is part of how that rating is reached. A blank door removes that opening, so there is one less seam for dust and spray to find. TrolMaster lists a single door as the full package contents, so plan to reuse the parts already on the cabinet.

When a Blank SCC-2 Cabinet Door Makes Sense

The usual reason to pick one up is a controller change inside an existing cabinet. A grower moving off Hydro-X Pro can keep the relays, splitter boards and wiring and just swap the front. It also suits builds where the main controller sits on the DIN rail inside rather than in the door. Some facilities prefer that layout so nobody can press buttons without opening the cabinet. A solid front is also useful when the cabinet only holds device modules fed from a controller elsewhere. Check the inside mounting space before planning the layout, since TrolMaster lists it at 35 × 18 × 6.5 in. The door is detachable, which makes wiring the back panel easier with the front out of the way. If you plan to cut your own opening later, measure twice and seal the edge to protect the rating. It is only worth adding if you already run an SCC-2 or have one coming, because it will not fit other enclosures. For a new Hydro-X Pro build, the windowed door that comes with the cabinet is already the right part.
