Fitting the TrolMaster PPH-3 Inline or in a Tank

The mounting is what separates this probe from a handheld meter. A threaded body sized for a standard three quarter inch PVC tee lets it screw into a feed line and read the solution in motion. The protective sleeve around the element is narrower than the earlier version, which is what makes tight plumbing possible. It also works dropped into a reservoir on its lead. The two positions answer different questions. Inline tells you what the plants are getting after any injection or blending. In the tank tells you what is sitting there waiting. Neither is wrong and they will not always agree. The lead runs three point six metres and finishes in a BNC plug, which is the standard connector for a glass pH electrode. That plug goes into the sensor board rather than into a controller. Working conditions are thirty-two to a hundred and twenty-two Fahrenheit with humidity under ninety percent.

Why a pH Probe Dies in Storage Solution or Without It

This is the part that costs people money and it is entirely avoidable. A glass pH electrode works because a hydrated gel layer forms on the outside of the bulb. Let that layer dry and the reading goes wrong, and a probe that dries fully does not come back. TrolMaster are explicit about the consequence. A probe returned dry and without its cap is not eligible for warranty, so the storage habit is a warranty condition and not just advice. Keep the cap on with the correct storage solution inside it whenever the probe is out of the system. Never store it in plain water, which strips ions out of the bulb and does its own damage. Calibrate on a schedule rather than when a number looks odd. Drift is gradual, and a slowly wrong probe does more damage than a dead one. Compatible boards are the AMP-2 and the AMP-3.
