The Two Ways a TrolMaster DCC-1 Can Be Wired to Think
Everything about this part comes down to one switch. With the interlock turned off, the two paired modules work in parallel, and either condition on its own will act. Turn an exhaust fan on when the temperature is high or when the humidity is high, and it runs whenever one of them says so. With the interlock turned on, the pair works in series and both conditions have to be met together before anything happens. That is how carbon dioxide gets shut off only while an exhaust fan is running. It is also how lights drop only once a temperature limit has really been crossed. The distinction is the same one as between an OR and an AND. Getting it backwards produces a room that either never responds or never stops responding. An LED shows the state. It works with the plug-in modules in the range, listed as the DSC-1, the DSH-1 and DSH-2, the DST-1 and DST-2, and the DSP-1.
Setting the Interlock and Wiring It Into a Room
The adaptor carries its own RJ12 lead, so the physical side is short work. Plug it into the chosen module and the pair then acts together on whatever device that module is switching. No configuration file and no app step sits between the two. Write down which pair is doing what before moving on. Two modules behaving as one confuse anyone who meets the room later. Think about the failure case before choosing the setting. A parallel arrangement errs toward acting, and a series arrangement errs toward not acting. For extraction, acting too often costs little and not acting costs a crop, so parallel is usually right. For anything that shuts equipment down, the opposite is usually true. One DCC-1 comes in the box.
Key Features
- Function: Lets one device respond to two separate conditions at once
- Interlock off: The pair works in parallel, so either condition can act alone
- Interlock on: The pair works in series, so both conditions must agree
- Typical parallel use: Extraction driven by either temperature or humidity
- Typical series use: Cutting carbon dioxide only while extraction is running
- Compatible modules: DSC-1, DSH-1 and DSH-2, DST-1 and DST-2, and DSP-1
- Connection: An RJ12 cable is built into the adaptor itself
- Indicator: An LED shows the current state
- Setup: Plug and play, with no configuration step in an app
