TrolMaster TS-3 Turns Your HVAC Into a Dehumidifier

Late in flower, a room can hit its temperature setpoint while humidity keeps climbing. Running the air conditioner harder pulls moisture but also drives the room too cold. Reheat solves that by calling for cooling and heating at the same time. The coil strips water out of the air, and the heat section warms it back up before it returns to the room. The TS-3 gives the HCS-2 Hydro-X Pro and HCS-3 Hydro-X Plus controllers that kind of HVAC control. It works with single-stage HVAC systems and heat pumps that accept heat and cool signals together. Mini-split and VRF systems are normally not compatible, according to TrolMaster. Each TS-3 gets its own Day and Night temperature and humidity setpoints in the controller. Reheat can run at night only, during the day only, or around the clock. The controller adds adjustable delays to protect the compressor from short-cycling and hot starts.

Wiring and Checking a Reheat Control Station

Confirm with an HVAC technician that the unit can safely take heat and cool at the same time before installing. TrolMaster warns that the wrong equipment could be damaged by this mode. The TS-3 uses standard low-voltage thermostat cable with four conductors. R carries 24VAC from the HVAC transformer, and Y sends the cooling call. W is the dehumidification (heat) signal, and G runs the fan. No C, or common, wire is needed. The station hangs on a wall bracket that releases with two tabs for easy wiring. An LCD shows status at the station, and a micro-SD slot handles firmware updates. The box includes a 16 ft and a 4 ft RJ12 cable plus a T-splitter for the controller link. The package measures 6.30 × 3.39 × 3.39 in and weighs 0.88 lbs.
