Wiring a Powered RJ12 Hub Without Signal Trouble
A powered RJ12 hub belongs near the middle of the devices it serves, not beside the controller. Mount it on a wall at a central point so every cable run stays short and direct. Run one cable home to the controller and plug each module into its own jack. Label both ends of every cable with the device it feeds. Grouping sensors on one hub and lighting adapters on another keeps troubleshooting simple. Lighting adds one exception worth knowing. When lights are interconnected back to a single LMA adapter, leave the power supply unplugged from the hub. An LMA-T running a ThinkGrow light system is the reverse case, and there the power supply is required. Keep the hub and its adapter dry and off the floor. Route low voltage cables away from ballasts, pumps and mains cords where possible. The hub passes signals and power only, so each sensor and station still needs its own address on the controller.
